
The
Bucks County Council for Individuals With Disabilities, or BCCID, is
a nonprofit, charitable corporation chartered to promote the well-being
and independence of disabled children and adults throughout Bucks County.
The
Council was founded as an outgrowth of the Bucks County Advisory Council
for the Easter Seal Society. Administrative changes within the five-county
Easter Seal Society indicated that if the advisory council were to
continue with fundraising activities, it should disassociate itself
as a separate corporation.
The
Bucks County Handicapped Council, Inc. was chartered by the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania on November 3, 1986. More recently, in January 1988,
the name was changed to the Bucks County Council for Individuals With
Disabilities.
Funds
raised by the BCCID are used to assist other agencies and groups serving
persons with disabilities.
The
BCCID Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month at
the YMCA in Fairless Hills at 11:30 a.m.
